Visit Fort Battice, a Belgian military fortress that was constructed between 1934 and 1937 in view of WWII.
A guided tour takes on average 3.5 hours, following a circuit of approximately 3 kilometers.
The tour starts along the superstructure and the visit continues 30 meters underground in the heart of the fortress.
During the visit you will be able to see in working order:
- an armoured retractable gun turret, equipped with twin 75mm cannons.
- an ammunition elevator in an artillery block.
- an original and very rare 175 hp Carels engine, supplying the necessary current to provide electricity to the fort's key components.
- a giant fan used to create overpressure in the fighting zone of an artillery block.
In the museum the functioning of a 60mm anti-tank gun will be demonstrated, as well as the operation of a twin Maxim 08/15 machine gun on a topple-over carriage.
